FutureGenerations China Hiring Project Coordinator and Communications Assistant in Beijing (Deadline 2012/9/15)

Future Generations is a worldwide alliance of organizations promoting community-led development work in Afghanistan, China, India and Peru.

Future Generations China has enjoyed 25 years of work in China that includes establishing the Qomolangma/Mt Everest National Nature Preserve in Tibet, the Pendeba Program of community-based health and income development; the Youth Program including the launch of the Green Long March program, Gen Fellowship; Model Eco-community Program in Hunan Taoyuan county, as well as China Forum for Nature which explores China’s state in nature reserves and propose plan for future work.

1. Project Coordinator

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining sponsor relations, composing project proposals, assist with project planning and implementation, drafting program reports, etc.  

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1)      Searching potential funding and develop proposals to apply in consultation with the Executive Director

2)      Maintain healthy communications with sponsors, and writing program reports, etc.

3)      Assist with project planning and implementation

4)      Assist with evaluation of program proposals from individuals and group

5)      Communicate with partners and provide updates to the Executive Director

6)      Translate materials from Chinese to English/English to Chinese, as needed

7)      Assist in the organization of meetings, conferences, forums, etc.

8)      Maintain a contact database for programs

9)      Perform other coordination tasks as requested by Executive Director

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in oral English and Mandarin; excellent English and Chinese writing skills, native English speaker is preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of key environmental and conservation issues in China
  • More than two years of working experience with international environmental NGOs and or related governmental organizations
  • Experience in fundraising and project proposal development
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or community development are preferred
  • Strong initiative and ability to solve problems
  • Attention to detail and capacity to meet deadlines, positive attitude and good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team and achieve common goals

2. Communications Assistant

The Communications Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Communication Officer to implement the communications strategy.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1)      Assist the Communications Officer to develop and implement the communication activities.

2)      Build and maintain communication networks with key stakeholders, eg: NGO, business, universities, students, media, etc. on related conservation issues.

3)      Develop communication materials to provide regular update on progress to audiences, eg: partners, donors, media, etc.  

4)      Prepare news, brochure, fact sheets, and handbook about the events both in English and in Chinese.

5)      Contribute information to organization websites relating to the events and develop new online tools as appropriate.

6)      Design and organize communications events, activities, and campaigns for the events.

7)      Monitor information related to the events, such as collection and filing of video, slides, photos and media coverage, and distribute them promptly to allow follow up as needed.

8)      Perform other communications tasks as requested by Communications Officer.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in oral English and Mandarin; excellent English and Chinese writing skills
  • Excellent knowledge of key environmental and conservation issues in China
  • At least one year of working experience or internship with international environmental NGOs and or related governmental organizations
  • Experience in communicating with people from different cultures
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or PR are preferred
  • Strong initiative and ability to solve problems
  • Attention to detail and capacity to meet deadlines, positive attitude and good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team and achieve common goals
