2010 Green Long March National Training

National training for the fourth annual Green Long March took place Friday April 2nd through Sunday, April 4th. In just four years, more than 300 student volunteers have received training in environmental conservation and community project implementation skills.

This year's training consisted of lectures from Future Generations China and Beijing Forestry University professors. Topics covered sustainable development, low-carbon economy, and water resources.

On the morning of April 4th, Country Director of Future Generations China, Dr. Guangchun Lei, gave a talk on global nature conservation trends. Following Dr. Lei's informative presentation, Deputy Director of Future Generations China, Mr. Norbu, presented students with an overview of project planning and implementation. This engaging discussion presented the keys to successful project implementation and highlighted the tools available to students when designing their projects.

Following presentations from Dr. Lei and Mr. Norbu, students divided into small groups for an interactive afternoon of discussion and hands-on project planning. During this session, participants had the opportunity to design their own community projects and present their findings. Core Green Long March “Training of Trainers” (TOT) student volunteers were the facilitators of these small group discussions.
